One connection away
1,244 airports are reachable from PTY with exactly one change, on top of the 93 nonstop. The ten below are the ones with the most frequency on the weaker of the two sectors, which is the leg that decides whether a same day connection holds. Computed from the scheduled network, not from a booking engine.

How deep the PTY board really is
The table above says where a courier can fly from PTY. This reads the same 89 destinations back for the questions a dispatcher asks second: how much of the board rests on one airline, how much of it runs less than daily, whether the return leg is as thick as the outbound, what the clock here does to a Gulf working day and which of the destinations shut at night, all of it computed on 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics.
- 81of the 89 destinations are flown by one airline
- 20destinations run less than once a day
- 18destinations have four or more departures a day
- 92.1%of the destinations name Copa Airlines, the largest presence here
Who holds the departures at PTY
Twelve airlines appear on the PTY board and they do not hold it evenly. Copa Airlines is on 82 of the 89 destinations, 92.1 per cent of them, and on 75 of those it is the only airline flying the sector. The destinations it appears on carry 237.6 of the 246.3 departures a day this airport files, though other airlines fly some of the same sectors, so read that as reach rather than as a share of the aircraft.
The next largest presence is Avianca on 3 destinations. 9 of the 12 airlines at PTY appear on a single destination each, which is the long tail every airport carries, and none of it is a rebooking option when the sector you need is the one that fell over.
An airport held this tightly is quick to book and slow to recover: with 82 of the 89 destinations on one airline, the second aircraft on a PTY sector is usually another Copa Airlines aircraft, and when there is not one the desk is looking at another airport rather than another airline. No alternate airport within road reach is held for PTY, so that second look is a longer road leg or a different day.
How much of the PTY board is daily
Of the 89 destinations, 69 are flown at least once a day and 20 are not, 2 of them running once a week or less. The median destination on the PTY board is flown about once a day.
An average of 0.14 flights a day is the schedule statistic, and it is worth translating it before anything is promised to anybody: PTY to Cleveland (CLE) is about one a week, so a missed departure there is not a delay of hours, it is the next slot.
The five busiest destinations carry 54.3 of the 246.3 departures a day, 22 per cent of the whole board. The other 84 destinations are spread widely enough that a courier who misses the first departure at PTY usually has somewhere else to look on the same board.

The ten destinations out of PTY where one airline holds the sector and files fewer than seven departures a week, with the weekly figure taken as the average daily rate multiplied by seven rather than as a fixed timetable. 10 further destinations sit in the same position and are listed in the board above.
The way back from PTY
The desk holds the return direction for 65 of the 89 destinations, and a courier plans the way back on those figures rather than on the outbound. On none of those 65 does the return run more than a quarter thinner than the outbound, so a turnaround through PTY is a question of hours rather than of whether an aircraft exists.
It runs the other way as well: Bogotá (BOG) files 16.3 a day back into PTY against 10.7 outbound, which is the shape that strands a courier at this end rather than at the far end.
The clock at PTY
PTY keeps America/Panama time, nine hours behind Dubai all year.
When it is 09:00 on a Dubai working morning it is 00:00 at PTY, and a nine to six day at each end does not overlap at all, so an instruction written in Dubai is read here on the following working day unless somebody is woken up.
The night at PTY
2 of the destinations from here carry a documented night restriction of their own, which is a departure time question at this end rather than an arrival problem at the other.
Into Amsterdam (AMS) the door shuts at 23:00 local, so the last departure from PTY that lands inside it leaves around 04:53, on a modelled block of 11h 07m. Into Paris (CDG) the door shuts at 00:00 local, so the last departure from PTY that lands inside it leaves around 06:04, on a modelled block of 10h 56m. Those two departure times out of PTY are worked backwards from the published window with the block time model this site uses everywhere, 720 to 880 km an hour by sector length with thirty minutes on the ground, so they are arithmetic rather than a timetable and the desk checks the published departure before it promises the landing.
Where PTY turns up on the rest of this site
PTY carries two other pages on this site as well: the Panama country desk, which sets out the customs practice, the working week and the road legs behind this airport and the PTY transit page for the connecting case, where a courier changes aircraft here rather than starting or finishing.
The site publishes 11 airport pair pages that start or end at PTY, each with the distance, the block time, the carriers on the sector and a door to door clock. The busiest are Panama City to Bogotá (BOG), Panama City to Miami (MIA) and Panama City to Rionegro (MDE).
Three courier postings name PTY as the airport a courier here flies from: Panama City, Colón and La Chorrera.
To price a movement rather than read the board, the route calculator opens with PTY already set as the origin, and it works out the flying time, the distance and the delivery hour for any of the 89 destinations above.
Where this came from
- Destination network, airlines and frequencies: AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics, retrieved 2026-09-07.
- Airport names and coordinates: the OnBoard Courier airport reference list.
- Distances: great circle, computed from those coordinates. They are not flown distances and will read short against a real routing.
- Industrial sites: public company information. Nothing on this page states or implies that any company named is a customer of any courier operator.
Who publishes this. OnBoard Courier is a placement desk in Dubai. An assignment through PTY is carried out by a vetted partner operator, with the desk as the single point of contact from the quote to the signature. We keep the Atlas because our own desk needs it when there are twenty minutes to find a routing, and we publish it because a reference only one operator can read is not a reference. Free to read, quote and cite, including by competing operators. Found an error? Tell us and we will correct the entry.
If you need something moved rather than looked up, the desk prices a hand carry in fifteen minutes. If you fly often and want to carry, we are recruiting couriers.
