Onboard Courier Paris to Mexico City

Paris is one of the few European cities with two separate carriers flying nonstop to Mexico City, and on an urgent movement that redundancy is worth more than an hour of block time. This lane covers collection anywhere in the Paris region, a courier booked on a named service, and a signed handover in the Valley of Mexico.

Why two operators on one route changes the answer

A single daily nonstop is a single point of failure. If it goes technical at the gate, the whole plan goes with it and the recovery is a connection through somebody else's hub with a new baggage tag and a new set of risks. Paris does not have that problem to the same degree. Air France and Aeroméxico each operate their own nonstop to Mexico City, which means there is normally more than one westbound departure to work with, and a rebooking is a rebooking rather than a rebuild.

01

That matters most on the assignments where the booking desk is working against a clock they did not set. An aircraft on ground at Benito Juárez, a press line down in Toluca, a filling line in Cuernavaca waiting for a valve block. In all three cases the person calling has already lost the argument about whether this should have been forecast, and what they need now is a departure this evening rather than an explanation.

02

The origin side helps too. The Paris region carries aerospace propulsion and equipment, rail, defence electronics, automotive engineering and a very deep instrumentation base, and the northern and Normandy assembly belt is within a few hours by road. A courier collecting at six in the evening in the Yvelines can still be at Charles de Gaulle for a westbound departure, and there is a second one behind it.

The departure boards behind CDG to MEX

A hand-carry on this lane is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once, books the one that lands first and holds the one that leaves next.

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at Paris to Mexico City first, at a fare the quote can carry.

Paris to Mexico City: every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

Two nonstops, and the recovery when one of them goes

01

We quote against a named service, not against a route. That means you are told which carrier, which departure and which arrival time before anyone commits, and it means the alternative is identified at the same time. If the booked departure fails, the courier and the item move together to the other operator's nonstop if it has not gone, or to a one stop through Madrid, Amsterdam or Frankfurt if it has. The item never continues without the courier and it is never handed to a cargo agent to catch up later.

02

Charles de Gaulle is a large airport with separate terminals for the two operators, so a courier who has to switch carriers after check-in has a real ground movement to make and any checked item has to be reclaimed and rechecked. We build that into the recovery plan rather than discovering it. Where an item is small enough to travel in the cabin, this is one of the reasons we push for the cabin even when the hold would be cheaper.

Collection across the Paris region and the belt behind it

01

The item is picked up wherever it happens to be. Within the Île de France that is normally straightforward at any hour, and the drive to Charles de Gaulle from the western business districts is the only variable that matters. Further out, the automotive assembly belt in Hauts-de-France and Normandy, the aerospace equipment suppliers around Évreux and Chartres, and the machining and tooling shops of the Loire valley are all inside a half day by road.

02

The number to give us is not the collection time, it is the time the item will genuinely be in a courier's hand with its paperwork. On an urgent movement the export documentation is usually the last thing produced, and a commercial invoice that has to be countersigned by a manager who has gone home is a longer delay than the drive to the airport. We would rather quote a realistic departure than a flattering one.

The aircraft on ground case

01

A grounded aircraft is the most common single reason this lane is booked at short notice. The demand comes from a maintenance control centre or an operator's technical desk, the part is usually small, and the release certificate travels with it. The courier carries the EASA Form 1 or FAA 8130-3 in hand rather than trusting an emailed copy, because the receiving stores will ask for the original and the aircraft does not leave without it.

02

The counterpart movement is the one people forget to arrange. The unserviceable unit that came off the aircraft normally has to go back to Europe, and that is a temporary export from Mexico that has to reference the entry the replacement came in on. If you tell us at the outset that there is a core to return, we quote the round trip and the same courier can often carry both legs, which is cheaper and far less trouble than raising a second file two days later.

Batteries, magnets and what a passenger may actually carry

01

This is the question that most often kills an assignment at the check-in desk, so we ask it first. Lithium ion batteries carried on their own are not accepted in the hold of a passenger aircraft at all, and have to travel in the cabin. Cells and batteries between 100 and 160 watt hours need the operating carrier's approval in advance, and anything above 160 watt hours cannot travel as passenger baggage in either cabin or hold. Batteries installed in equipment are treated differently from loose ones, which is why we ask for the configuration rather than just the part number.

02

The same applies to strongly magnetised assemblies, which are assessed against a field strength threshold and are frequently refused, and to anything carrying a fuel, oil or hydraulic residue, which is refused outright. Aerosols, compressed gas cylinders and flammable liquids are not going on this lane. Dry ice can travel in limited quantity with the carrier's agreement. We get a ruling from the operating carrier before the assignment is placed, and if the answer is no we tell you it is no rather than sending a courier to find out.

Valuing a warranty replacement for customs

01

A large share of urgent parts are supplied free of charge under warranty, and the invoice that accompanies them often says so in a way Mexican customs cannot use. There is no such thing as a zero value import. The pedimento needs a customs value, and the declared value drives the duty, the value added tax and whether the passenger simplification is available at all. A part shipped no charge still has to be declared at what it is worth, with the invoice marked to show that no payment is due.

02

Getting this right before departure saves hours in the arrivals hall. The consignee's agente aduanal will tell you what they need on the face of the invoice, and it is worth asking them rather than guessing. Where the consignee holds an IMMEX authorisation the entry is normally filed as a temporary import against that programme, which suspends the duty and value added tax but does not remove the need for a defensible value.

After Benito Juárez, west and south

01

The airport sits about five kilometres east of the city centre, which is convenient for the city and less convenient for everything around it. Toluca and the Lerma industrial corridor are roughly 65 kilometres west on the 15D, with vehicle assembly and a dense supplier base. Cuautitlán is north of the city. Cuernavaca and the Civac industrial zone are about 85 kilometres south on the 95D. Each of those drives crosses or skirts the Mexico City conurbation, so the honest quoted time depends heavily on when the aircraft lands.

02

The courier stays with the item for the road leg and hands it over against signature at the gate or the receiving dock. We ask for the gate opening hours and for a named person before departure, because an item that arrives at a closed goods inwards at eleven at night has not arrived. Where a plant runs continuously and the gate is manned, the delivery happens on arrival.

Services that carry this lane

What flies, and what it means for a courier who has to be at the gate.

  • Air France flies Paris Charles de Gaulle to Mexico City nonstop, its own metal and its own terminal.
  • Aeroméxico flies the same city pair nonstop, which gives the lane a second operator and a genuine recovery option.
  • Aeroméxico also flies Paris to Monterrey nonstop, which occasionally suits a consignee in the north better than Mexico City.
  • Iberia and Air Europa via Madrid, and KLM via Amsterdam, are the usual one stop fallbacks when both Paris nonstops have gone.
  • Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Munich is a further fallback and reaches Mexico City daily from Frankfurt.
  • Air France and Aeroméxico both connect onward within Mexico from Benito Juárez, though a terminal transfer has to be allowed for.

Questions about Paris to Mexico City

01How many nonstop departures a day are there from Paris to Mexico City?

Both Air France and Aeroméxico operate the route, so on most days there is more than one westbound nonstop to choose from. We check the actual schedule for your date and quote the specific departure rather than the route, because frequency varies by season and day of week.

02Can a lithium battery pack travel on this lane?

It depends on the watt hour rating and whether it is loose or installed. Loose batteries must go in the cabin and never in the hold, packs between 100 and 160 watt hours need the operating carrier's approval, and anything above 160 watt hours cannot travel as passenger baggage at all. Send us the rating and the configuration before anything is booked.

03We are sending the part free of charge under warranty. What value do we declare?

A real one. Mexican customs will not accept a zero value, and the declared value drives duty, value added tax and the clearance route. The usual approach is to invoice at the normal commercial value with a clear statement that no payment is due, but the consignee's customs broker should confirm the wording they want before the flight.

04Can the same courier take the failed unit back to France?

Often yes, and it is worth asking at the start. The return is a separate customs event, normally a temporary export from Mexico referencing the entry the replacement came in on, and returned goods relief or outward processing on the European side. Arranging both legs together is cheaper than raising a second assignment.

05What happens if the booked flight is cancelled after check-in?

The courier reclaims any checked item and both move to the next available service together. If that means changing carriers at Charles de Gaulle it involves a terminal change and a new baggage acceptance, which is one reason we prefer cabin carriage where the item fits. You are told what has changed and what the new arrival time is.

06Do you deliver outside Mexico City?

Yes. Toluca and Lerma at about 65 kilometres, Cuernavaca and Civac at about 85 kilometres, Puebla at about 130 kilometres and Querétaro at about 215 kilometres are all routine road legs from the airport. The courier stays with the item and hands it over at the destination gate.

What the desk works out before it quotes Paris to Mexico City

Computed for CDG to NLU on 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics and from the airport files retrieved 2026-09-07. The distance is great circle between CDG and NLU, the flying time is the model the calculator on this page runs, and the hours are local at each end. Frequencies move with the season, so a Paris to Mexico City quote is priced on the flights running the day you ask rather than on this page.

How a Paris to Mexico City movement actually runs

A Paris to Mexico City movement runs in two legs. The schedule the desk holds carries no nonstop between Paris CDG and Mexico City NLU, so the lane is built through a change of aircraft, and eight of the airports in the network join the two ends. The quickest of the ones dependable enough to plan on is Bogotá BOG, where the weaker of the two legs still runs about once a day. CDG to BOG and BOG to NLU covers 11,815 km against the 9,168 km direct track and takes about 16h 29m once 75 minutes are allowed to change aircraft at an airport that size. The first leg is held by Air France and Avianca and the second by VivaAerobus, Volaris and Euroairlines, and where those are not the same airline the two tickets are checked for a single booking reference before the courier leaves, because a self transfer puts the bag back through check in. Mexico City MEX sits about 36 km from Mexico City, which does hold a nonstop to CDG 3.4 times a day, so on this lane the desk prices the road leg to MEX against the connection before it books either.

What the change of aircraft at Bogotá actually takes, airside or landside, the walk, the re-screening and the local night restrictions, is on the Bogotá transit page and is not repeated on the Paris to Mexico City lane. Both legs of the routing have a reference page of its own, Paris CDG to Bogotá BOG and Bogotá BOG to Mexico City NLU.

The same ground allowances the calculator on this page starts from, ninety minutes to collect and reach CDG, three hours at the airport before departure, 16h 29m in the air over Bogotá, ninety minutes of arrival formalities at NLU and a forty five minute delivery run. Both columns are local, read for a mid January date, because Paris and Mexico City do not change their clocks on the same day. Move any of the allowances in the calculator lower down this page and the whole Paris to Mexico City clock moves with them.

Mexico City runs 7 hours behind Paris in January, which is why the two columns above do not sit 16h 29m apart. In July the gap is 8 hours instead, because Paris and Mexico City do not change their clocks together, and a summer booking on this lane is read off the summer figure. Read backwards, a six in the evening handover in Mexico City would need the collection in Paris closed the day before, which is the shape of CDG to NLU: the aircraft is boarded on one calendar day and the item is handed over in Mexico City on the next, and a quote that pretends otherwise is a quote that will be missed. Forwards, a nine in the morning collection in Paris reaches the door in Mexico City at about 01:14 local on the following day. The 23h 14m of elapsed time is the honest door to door figure for this lane, and it is the one the desk quotes.

What gets a courier onto the Paris to Mexico City lane

The industrial geography the site publishes puts one aerospace site, one automotive site and one pharmaceutical and life science site within reach of CDG or NLU: Safran at Villaroche and Corbeil, Renault at Flins and Douai and Sanofi at Frankfurt Hoechst and Paris. The file names them as public industrial fact and not as anybody's customer, it is checked 2026-09-07, and it is the reason CDG to NLU is a lane at all. That mix is what a hand carry between Paris and Mexico City usually carries: aerospace work moves in small, heavy, expensive pieces that a line is already waiting for, and it is the waiting line rather than the weight of the item that pays for a seat. What the measured network does say about the item is that 9,168 km is a long haul sector, so the consignment stays with one person for 16h 29m of flying and is presented at NLU by that person. Anything inside cabin limits leaves CDG in the cabin and stays there for the whole of it; above that it travels as accompanied checked baggage on the same ticket and is lifted off the belt at NLU by the same courier.

Where a Paris to Mexico City consignment is entered, and at what hour

A consignment that leaves Paris on this lane is entered at Mexico City NLU. The held schedule reaches Mexico at 51 airports in all, Mexico City MEX, Cancún CUN, Guadalajara GDL and Monterrey MTY among them, so where the consignee is not in Mexico City the desk compares the arrival airport before it buys the CDG ticket rather than driving the difference afterwards. The change of aircraft at Bogotá BOG is in Colombia, a third country, so the courier stays in transit there and nothing is entered until NLU. That is the cleaner of the two shapes, and it is why a routing over BOG is preferred to one that lands inside Mexico twice when the timings on CDG to NLU are close. The hour matters as much as the paperwork, and on the clock above the courier is through arrivals at Mexico City NLU at 00:29 local, while an entry into Mexico that lands outside working hours waits for the people who process it, so the desk sets the broker and the receiving contact against that hour before the courier leaves Paris for NLU. What the entry itself needs, the declaration, the broker and the documents, is set out for Mexico on the country desk and is not repeated on every lane that lands at NLU, and the desk checks that position against the actual consignment before it quotes CDG to NLU.

The other ways into Mexico on CDG to NLU

A consignee on this lane is not always in Mexico City, so these are the other airports in Mexico that CDG reaches without a change of aircraft on the held schedule, with the great circle distance from NLU beside each one. The closest of them is Mexico City MEX at 36 km from NLU, running 3.4 times a day out of CDG, which on a delivery outside the city is often the shorter total journey even though it looks like the wrong airport.

What Paris to Mexico City costs in courier time

This desk is in Dubai and neither end of CDG to NLU is, so where a courier has to be positioned onto CDG rather than found there, the held schedule puts DXB to CDG at 3.9 times a day over 5,239 km, and that positioning leg is priced into the quote rather than discovered after it. Three of the five UAE gateways reach CDG without a change, which is why the CDG to NLU collection that has to start tomorrow morning in Paris is still worth asking about tonight. At 23h 14m from collection to signature the job is past the sixteen hour duty period a single courier is planned against, so CDG to NLU is quoted with a rest built in or with the courier changed at the interchange, and never as one unbroken shift. By length this is the 83rd longest of the 346 lanes the site publishes, at 9,168 km.

What decides whether Paris to Mexico City goes today

  • The interchange: there is no CDG to NLU nonstop, so the movement needs two legs that connect on the same day, and through Bogotá BOG the weaker of them runs about once a day, which is the figure that decides whether the pair of flights exists this afternoon.
  • The calendar: the door to door figure is 23h 14m, which on this lane puts the handover in Mexico City on the day after the collection in Paris, so the decision to make today is which morning it has to reach NLU, not which hour.
  • The night at Paris: scheduled movements are restricted between 00:00 and 05:00 local, and the departure worked out above, 13:30, sits outside that window, so the restriction does not bite on the CDG to NLU timing, though it is what turns a collection that runs three hours late into a movement tomorrow.
  • The paperwork: the invoice value, the description and the classification have to agree with what is in the box before the courier leaves Paris for Mexico City, and that is checked at the collection address, because a mismatch found at NLU is settled at the speed of a broker rather than the speed of an aeroplane.
