One connection away

187 airports are reachable from NLU with exactly one change, on top of the 47 nonstop. The ten below are the ones with the most frequency on the weaker of the two sectors, which is the leg that decides whether a same day connection holds. Computed from the scheduled network, not from a booking engine.

Alternate airports within reach

Airports within 400 km that also carry scheduled traffic. When a departure from NLU is cancelled or nothing suitable leaves that night, these are the options a desk looks at before it accepts a lost day.

  • Mexico City MEX36 km by great circle, 106 scheduled destinations
  • Puebla PBC95 km by great circle, 15 scheduled destinations
  • Queretaro QRO155 km by great circle, 28 scheduled destinations
  • Leon and Silao BJX291 km by great circle, 21 scheduled destinations
  • San Luis Potosi SLP341 km by great circle, 11 scheduled destinations

How deep the NLU board really is

The table above says where a courier can fly from NLU. This reads the same 41 destinations back for the questions a dispatcher asks second: how much of the board rests on one airline, how much of it runs less than daily, whether the return leg is as thick as the outbound and what the clock here does to a Gulf working day, all of it computed on 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics.

  • 19of the 41 destinations are flown by one airline
  • 10destinations run less than once a day
  • 5destinations have four or more departures a day
  • 90.2%of the destinations name VivaAerobus, the largest presence here

Who holds the departures at NLU

Seven airlines appear on the NLU board and they do not hold it evenly. VivaAerobus is on 37 of the 41 destinations, 90.2 per cent of them, and on 15 of those it is the only airline flying the sector. The destinations it appears on carry 80.1 of the 83.4 departures a day this airport files, though other airlines fly some of the same sectors, so read that as reach rather than as a share of the aircraft.

The next largest presence is Xpressair on 17 destinations. 0 of the 7 airlines at NLU appear on a single destination each, which is the long tail every airport carries, and none of it is a rebooking option when the sector you need is the one that fell over.

An airport held this tightly is quick to book and slow to recover: with 37 of the 41 destinations on one airline, the second aircraft on an NLU sector is usually another VivaAerobus aircraft, and when there is not one the desk is looking at another airport rather than another airline. That is why the alternate airports listed above matter more at NLU than the destination count does.

How much of the NLU board is daily

Of the 41 destinations, 31 are flown at least once a day and 10 are not, though none of them drops to once a week or less. The median destination on the NLU board is flown about once a day.

An average of 0.43 flights a day is the schedule statistic, and it is worth translating it before anything is promised to anybody: NLU to Tepic (TPQ) is 3 a week, so a missed departure there is not a delay of hours, it is the next slot.

The five busiest destinations carry 34.3 of the 83.4 departures a day, 41.2 per cent of the whole board. The other 36 destinations are spread widely enough that a courier who misses the first departure at NLU usually has somewhere else to look on the same board.

The nine destinations out of NLU where one airline holds the sector and files fewer than seven departures a week, with the weekly figure taken as the average daily rate multiplied by seven rather than as a fixed timetable.

The way back from NLU

The desk holds the return direction for 15 of the 41 destinations, and a courier plans the way back on those figures rather than on the outbound. On five of them the return into NLU runs thinner than the outbound by more than a quarter. The widest gaps are Puerto Vallarta (PVR) at 2.9 out a day against 0.57 back, Tijuana (TIJ) at 4.3 out a day against 1.1 back and Monterrey (MTY) at 7.1 out a day against 2.1 back.

A return leg thinner than the outbound is the ordinary reason a same day round trip out of NLU turns into an overnight, and it is worth checking on each of those 5 sectors before the courier is committed rather than after.

The clock at NLU

NLU keeps America/Mexico_City time, ten hours behind Dubai all year.

When it is 09:00 on a Dubai working morning it is 23:00 at NLU, and a nine to six day at each end does not overlap at all, so an instruction written in Dubai is read here on the following working day unless somebody is woken up.

Where NLU turns up on the rest of this site

The airport also sits behind the Mexico country desk, which sets out the customs practice, the working week and the road legs behind this airport.

The site publishes 10 airport pair pages that start or end at NLU, each with the distance, the block time, the carriers on the sector and a door to door clock. The busiest are Mexico City to Cancún (CUN), Mexico City to Guadalajara (GDL) and Mexico City to Monterrey (MTY).

Nine of the 346 published hand carry lanes run through this airport: Amsterdam to Mexico City, Dubai to Mexico City and Frankfurt to Mexico City. A lane page is the commercial version of the board above, with the customs, the ground legs and the price at NLU written out.

Twelve courier postings name NLU as the airport a courier here flies from: Mexico City, Cuautitlán Izcalli and Toluca.

To price a movement rather than read the board, the route calculator opens with NLU already set as the origin, and it works out the flying time, the distance and the delivery hour for any of the 41 destinations above.

Where this came from

  • Destination network, airlines and frequencies: AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics, retrieved 2026-09-07.
  • Airport names and coordinates: the OnBoard Courier airport reference list.
  • Distances: great circle, computed from those coordinates. They are not flown distances and will read short against a real routing.
  • Industrial sites: public company information. Nothing on this page states or implies that any company named is a customer of any courier operator.

Who publishes this. OnBoard Courier is a placement desk in Dubai. An assignment through NLU is carried out by a vetted partner operator, with the desk as the single point of contact from the quote to the signature. We keep the Atlas because our own desk needs it when there are twenty minutes to find a routing, and we publish it because a reference only one operator can read is not a reference. Free to read, quote and cite, including by competing operators. Found an error? Tell us and we will correct the entry.

If you need something moved rather than looked up, the desk prices a hand carry in fifteen minutes. If you fly often and want to carry, we are recruiting couriers.
