One connection away
1,540 airports are reachable from ADD with exactly one change, on top of the 124 nonstop. The ten below are the ones with the most frequency on the weaker of the two sectors, which is the leg that decides whether a same day connection holds. Computed from the scheduled network, not from a booking engine.

How deep the ADD board really is
The table above says where a courier can fly from ADD. This reads the same 114 destinations back for the questions a dispatcher asks second: how much of the board rests on one airline, how much of it runs less than daily, whether the return leg is as thick as the outbound, what the clock here does to a Gulf working day and which of the destinations shut at night, all of it computed on 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics.
- 102of the 114 destinations are flown by one airline
- 28destinations run less than once a day
- 10destinations have four or more departures a day
- 100%of the destinations name Ethiopian Airlines, the largest presence here
Who holds the departures at ADD
15 airlines appear on the ADD board and they do not hold it evenly. Ethiopian Airlines is on 114 of the 114 destinations, 100 per cent of them, and on 102 of those it is the only airline flying the sector. The destinations it appears on carry 223.1 of the 223.1 departures a day this airport files, though other airlines fly some of the same sectors, so read that as reach rather than as a share of the aircraft.
The next largest presence is flynas on 2 destinations. 13 of the 15 airlines at ADD appear on a single destination each, which is the long tail every airport carries, and none of it is a rebooking option when the sector you need is the one that fell over.
An airport held this tightly is quick to book and slow to recover: with 114 of the 114 destinations on one airline, the second aircraft on an ADD sector is usually another Ethiopian Airlines aircraft, and when there is not one the desk is looking at another airport rather than another airline. No alternate airport within road reach is held for ADD, so that second look is a longer road leg or a different day.
How much of the ADD board is daily
Of the 114 destinations, 86 are flown at least once a day and 28 are not, 1 of them running once a week or less. The median destination on the ADD board is flown about once a day.
An average of 0.14 flights a day is the schedule statistic, and it is worth translating it before anything is promised to anybody: ADD to Bulawayo (BUQ) is about one a week, so a missed departure there is not a delay of hours, it is the next slot.
The five busiest destinations carry 49.3 of the 223.1 departures a day, 22.1 per cent of the whole board. The other 109 destinations are spread widely enough that a courier who misses the first departure at ADD usually has somewhere else to look on the same board.
| Destination | Country | The only airline on it | Flights a week | km | Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bulawayo BUQ | Zimbabwe | Ethiopian Airlines | 1 | 3,411 | plan this |
| Hyderabad HYD | India | Ethiopian Airlines | 2 | 4,380 | the pair page |
| Malabo SSG | Equatorial Guinea | Ethiopian Airlines | 2 | 3,374 | plan this |

| Bangalore BLR | India | Ethiopian Airlines | 4 | 4,267 | the pair page |
The ten destinations out of ADD where one airline holds the sector and files fewer than seven departures a week, with the weekly figure taken as the average daily rate multiplied by seven rather than as a fixed timetable. 18 further destinations sit in the same position and are listed in the board above.
The way back from ADD
The desk holds the return direction for 92 of the 114 destinations, and a courier plans the way back on those figures rather than on the outbound. On four of them the return into ADD runs thinner than the outbound by more than a quarter. The widest gaps are Blantyre (BLZ) at 1.1 out a day against 0.43 back, Milan (MXP) at 2.3 out a day against 1 back and Libreville (LBV) at 0.71 out a day against 0.43 back.
It runs the other way as well: Kinshasa (FIH) files 2.3 a day back into ADD against 1.1 outbound, which is the shape that strands a courier at this end rather than at the far end.
The clock at ADD
ADD keeps Africa/Addis_Ababa time, an hour behind Dubai all year.
When it is 09:00 on a Dubai working morning it is 08:00 at ADD, so a nine to six day at each end overlaps for eight hours. That is wide enough to settle a customs question at ADD and still make a departure the same day.
The night at ADD
7 of the destinations from here carry a documented night restriction of their own, which is a departure time question at this end rather than an arrival problem at the other.
Into Brussels (BRU) the door shuts at 23:00 local, so the last departure from ADD that lands inside it leaves around 16:44, on a modelled block of 7h 16m. Into Frankfurt-am-Main (FRA) the door shuts at 23:00 local, so the last departure from ADD that lands inside it leaves around 17:03, on a modelled block of 6h 57m. Into Geneva (GVA) the door shuts at 00:00 local, so the last departure from ADD that lands inside it leaves around 18:16, on a modelled block of 6h 44m. Those three departure times out of ADD are worked backwards from the published window with the block time model this site uses everywhere, 720 to 880 km an hour by sector length with thirty minutes on the ground, so they are arithmetic rather than a timetable and the desk checks the published departure before it promises the landing.
Where ADD turns up on the rest of this site
ADD carries two other pages on this site as well: the Ethiopia country desk, which sets out the customs practice, the working week and the road legs behind this airport and the ADD transit page for the connecting case, where a courier changes aircraft here rather than starting or finishing.
The site publishes 33 airport pair pages that start or end at ADD, each with the distance, the block time, the carriers on the sector and a door to door clock. The busiest are Addis Ababa to Kampala (EBB), Addis Ababa to Jeddah (JED) and Addis Ababa to Dar es Salaam (DAR).
One of the 346 published hand carry lanes runs through this airport: Dubai to Addis Ababa. A lane page is the commercial version of the board above, with the customs, the ground legs and the price at ADD written out.
Two courier postings name ADD as the airport a courier here flies from: Addis Ababa and Nazrēt.
To price a movement rather than read the board, the route calculator opens with ADD already set as the origin, and it works out the flying time, the distance and the delivery hour for any of the 114 destinations above.
Where this came from
- Destination network, airlines and frequencies: AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics, retrieved 2026-09-07.
- Airport names and coordinates: the OnBoard Courier airport reference list.
- Distances: great circle, computed from those coordinates. They are not flown distances and will read short against a real routing.
- Industrial sites: public company information. Nothing on this page states or implies that any company named is a customer of any courier operator.
Who publishes this. OnBoard Courier is a placement desk in Dubai. An assignment through ADD is carried out by a vetted partner operator, with the desk as the single point of contact from the quote to the signature. We keep the Atlas because our own desk needs it when there are twenty minutes to find a routing, and we publish it because a reference only one operator can read is not a reference. Free to read, quote and cite, including by competing operators. Found an error? Tell us and we will correct the entry.
If you need something moved rather than looked up, the desk prices a hand carry in fifteen minutes. If you fly often and want to carry, we are recruiting couriers.
