One connection away

1,428 airports are reachable from AMM with exactly one change, on top of the 73 nonstop. The ten below are the ones with the most frequency on the weaker of the two sectors, which is the leg that decides whether a same day connection holds. Computed from the scheduled network, not from a booking engine.

Alternate airports within reach

Airports within 400 km that also carry scheduled traffic. When a departure from AMM is cancelled or nothing suitable leaves that night, these are the options a desk looks at before it accepts a lost day.

  • Tel Aviv TLV109 km by great circle, 110 scheduled destinations
  • Damascus DAM194 km by great circle, 19 scheduled destinations
  • Beirut BEY238 km by great circle, 45 scheduled destinations
  • Aqaba AQJ252 km by great circle, 2 scheduled destinations
  • Tabuk TUU377 km by great circle, 10 scheduled destinations

How deep the AMM board really is

The table above says where a courier can fly from AMM. This reads the same 72 destinations back for the questions a dispatcher asks second: how much of the board rests on one airline, how much of it runs less than daily, whether the return leg is as thick as the outbound, what the clock here does to a Gulf working day and which of the destinations shut at night, all of it computed on 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics.

  • 51of the 72 destinations are flown by one airline
  • 38destinations run less than once a day
  • 10destinations have four or more departures a day
  • 81.9%of the destinations name Royal Jordanian, the largest presence here

Who holds the departures at AMM

26 airlines appear on the AMM board and they do not hold it evenly. Royal Jordanian is on 59 of the 72 destinations, 81.9 per cent of them, and on 42 of those it is the only airline flying the sector. The destinations it appears on carry 119.6 of the 131.4 departures a day this airport files, though other airlines fly some of the same sectors, so read that as reach rather than as a share of the aircraft.

The next largest presence is Jordan Aviation Airlines on 8 destinations. 18 of the 26 airlines at AMM appear on a single destination each, which is the long tail every airport carries, and none of it is a rebooking option when the sector you need is the one that fell over.

An airport held this tightly is quick to book and slow to recover: with 59 of the 72 destinations on one airline, the second aircraft on an AMM sector is usually another Royal Jordanian aircraft, and when there is not one the desk is looking at another airport rather than another airline. That is why the alternate airports listed above matter more at AMM than the destination count does.

How much of the AMM board is daily

Of the 72 destinations, 34 are flown at least once a day and 38 are not, 2 of them running once a week or less. The median destination on the AMM board is flown 6 times a week.

An average of 0.14 flights a day is the schedule statistic, and it is worth translating it before anything is promised to anybody: AMM to Shenzhen (SZX) is about one a week, so a missed departure there is not a delay of hours, it is the next slot.

The five busiest destinations carry 41.3 of the 131.4 departures a day, 31.4 per cent of the whole board. With 52.8 per cent of the 72 destinations running less than daily, this is a board that rewards booking the outbound before the collection is confirmed rather than after.

The ten destinations out of AMM where one airline holds the sector and files fewer than seven departures a week, with the weekly figure taken as the average daily rate multiplied by seven rather than as a fixed timetable. 25 further destinations sit in the same position and are listed in the board above.

The way back from AMM

The desk holds the return direction for 63 of the 72 destinations, and a courier plans the way back on those figures rather than on the outbound. On two of them the return into AMM runs thinner than the outbound by more than a quarter. The widest gaps are Medina (MED) at 2.4 out a day against 1.6 back and Baghdad (BGW) at 5.7 out a day against 3.9 back.

It runs the other way as well: Kuwait City (KWI) files 2.9 a day back into AMM against 2 outbound, which is the shape that strands a courier at this end rather than at the far end.

The clock at AMM

AMM keeps Asia/Amman time, an hour behind Dubai all year.

When it is 09:00 on a Dubai working morning it is 08:00 at AMM, so a nine to six day at each end overlaps for eight hours. That is wide enough to settle a customs question at AMM and still make a departure the same day.

The night at AMM

12 of the destinations from here carry a documented night restriction of their own, which is a departure time question at this end rather than an arrival problem at the other.

Into Frankfurt-am-Main (FRA) the door shuts at 23:00 local, so the last departure from AMM that lands inside it leaves around 19:50, on a modelled block of 4h 10m. Into Paris (CDG) the door shuts at 00:00 local, so the last departure from AMM that lands inside it leaves around 20:26, on a modelled block of 4h 34m. Into Amsterdam (AMS) the door shuts at 23:00 local, so the last departure from AMM that lands inside it leaves around 19:24, on a modelled block of 4h 36m. Those three departure times out of AMM are worked backwards from the published window with the block time model this site uses everywhere, 720 to 880 km an hour by sector length with thirty minutes on the ground, so they are arithmetic rather than a timetable and the desk checks the published departure before it promises the landing.

Where AMM turns up on the rest of this site

AMM carries two other pages on this site as well: the Jordan country desk, which sets out the customs practice, the working week and the road legs behind this airport and the AMM transit page for the connecting case, where a courier changes aircraft here rather than starting or finishing.

The site publishes 51 airport pair pages that start or end at AMM, each with the distance, the block time, the carriers on the sector and a door to door clock. The busiest are Amman to Cairo (CAI), Amman to Riyadh (RUH) and Amman to Dubai (DXB).

Two of the 346 published hand carry lanes run through this airport: Amman to Frankfurt and Sharjah to Amman. A lane page is the commercial version of the board above, with the customs, the ground legs and the price at AMM written out.

Two courier postings name AMM as the airport a courier here flies from: Amman and Irbid.

To price a movement rather than read the board, the route calculator opens with AMM already set as the origin, and it works out the flying time, the distance and the delivery hour for any of the 72 destinations above.

Where this came from

  • Destination network, airlines and frequencies: AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics, retrieved 2026-09-07.
  • Airport names and coordinates: the OnBoard Courier airport reference list.
  • Distances: great circle, computed from those coordinates. They are not flown distances and will read short against a real routing.
  • Industrial sites: public company information. Nothing on this page states or implies that any company named is a customer of any courier operator.

Who publishes this. OnBoard Courier is a placement desk in Dubai. An assignment through AMM is carried out by a vetted partner operator, with the desk as the single point of contact from the quote to the signature. We keep the Atlas because our own desk needs it when there are twenty minutes to find a routing, and we publish it because a reference only one operator can read is not a reference. Free to read, quote and cite, including by competing operators. Found an error? Tell us and we will correct the entry.

If you need something moved rather than looked up, the desk prices a hand carry in fifteen minutes. If you fly often and want to carry, we are recruiting couriers.
