On board courier for banking & legal

Some documents only count on paper, with a wet signature, in the right hands, before a deadline nobody will move. That is a custody problem, not a shipping problem.

Departures from DXB · DWC · AUH · SHJ · RKT · FJR · AAN, whichever leaves first

The freight chain is not slow because aircraft are slow, it is slow because a consignment waits at every handover. A courier removes the queues, not the kilometres.

Firm quote in 15 minutes

Tell us what has to fly. We answer with a flight and a price.

Five short questions. A dispatcher replies with a named departure, the delivery hour and one fixed price, day and night.

  • One named courier from collection to signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival
  • Licensed UAE company, proper VAT invoices

What goes wrong

A transaction closes on a date. A tender box shuts at an hour. An original bill of lading has to reach the bank before the cargo reaches the port. None of these tolerate a tracking page that says 'in transit' with no name attached to it.

Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for for banking legal

A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.

Emirates

The night bank out of Terminal 3

Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For for banking legal that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.

Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus cities
flydubai

The short sectors, several times a day

From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.

Frequency is the fallback
Etihad

Abu Dhabi as the second runway

Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for for banking legal is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.

US preclearance at AUH

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at for banking legal first, at a fare the quote can carry.

for banking legal: every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

What actually travels in the cabin

ConsignmentWhy it is like this
Original bills of ladingWhoever holds the original controls the cargo. That is the whole reason for the care.
Notarised and legalised documentsApostilles, attestations, embassy legalisations.
Executed contractsSignature pages that have to be physically exchanged.
Tender submissionsSealed, and worthless one minute after the deadline.
Powers of attorneyWhere the original must be presented to a registry or a court.

Why hand-carry rather than air freight

For documents the value of hand-carry is not speed alone, it is that the chain of custody is a list of names rather than a list of facilities. One courier, sealed at collection, opened by nobody, handed to a named recipient against signature and identity. If a court later asks where the document was on Tuesday, there is an answer.

The paperwork that decides the hour

On this trade the flight is rarely what costs you the day. Documentation is. These are the papers that come up again and again, get them right before departure and the rest is a timetable problem.

DocumentWhat it does
Legalisation chainNotary, then foreign ministry, then embassy, in that order, or it is refused.
Courier authority letterSome registries only release or accept documents from an authorised bearer.
Declared valueDocuments have negligible customs value but real commercial consequence. Declare honestly.
Recipient identityName, department and a phone that is answered. Handover is against ID.

Where our service stops

01

We carry documents; we do not prepare, notarise or legalise them, and we do not advise on whether a document will satisfy a particular authority. Where attestation is needed we can tell you the usual sequence, but the responsibility for the document being correct stays with you.

02

OnBoard Courier is a coordination and matching platform: we put a vetted courier and a seat against your consignment. Regulated transport that needs a licence, an approval or specialist packaging is arranged with partners who hold those qualifications. We would rather tell you that at the quotation than at the check-in desk.

Where these lanes usually run

The UAE is inside three hours' flying of the whole Gulf, one connection from most of Africa and South Asia, and a direct sector from Europe, East Asia and the Americas. These are the desks and pages most used on this trade.

More questions about banking & legal

01Why not simply use a scan or an electronic signature?

For a great many purposes you should. Hand-carry is for the cases where an original is legally required, negotiable bills of lading, certain registry filings, notarised instruments, sealed tenders. If a scan will do, we will tell you to send a scan.

02Will the envelope be opened in transit?

Not by us. It is sealed at collection and the seal is checked at handover. Customs or aviation security may open it, and if they do the courier is present and it is recorded. That is the only circumstance.

03Can the courier collect from a notary or an embassy?

Yes, provided the office will release to a courier, many require an authority letter naming the bearer. Tell us at booking and we will make sure the courier carries what the office asks for.

04What if the deadline is missed because of a flight delay?

Then it is missed, and we would rather say that plainly than sell certainty we cannot deliver. What we do is quote a flight with realistic slack, tell you the moment a delay is known, and rebook on the next departure. For an unmovable deadline, book the earlier flight.

Some signatures still have to fly

01

For all the talk of digital closing, the world’s deal calendar still produces documents whose originals must physically arrive: share certificates, notarised and apostilled sets, wet-ink facility agreements, bid bonds with a tender clock on them. When the DIFC, ADGM, Riyadh’s KAFD and a London chambers are all holding pens over one transaction, a courier with a sealed document case is still the fastest legally clean answer.

02

These missions are less about weight than about discretion and proof: a named carrier, sealed carriage, no third-party handling, and a timestamped, photographed custody record your counsel can put in the file. Confidentiality agreements covering the courier are routine. The enemy here is not distance, it is the notary’s closing time and the apostille queue, which is why the desk plans the paperwork legs first.

Three ways the desk can move for banking legal

Same courier, same cabin, different amount of ground work. The desk recommends one of these in the quote and prices the other two if you ask.

The lean one

Airport to airport

  • A courier meets your driver airside at the departure airport
  • The consignment stays in the cabin for the whole flight
  • Your consignee, or their broker, collects at the arrival airport
  • Cleared in person, questions answered at the counter

Best when both ends have people who can reach an airport.

What most clients book

Door to door

  • Collection at your address, sealed and photographed
  • One named courier from that door to the signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival, duties handled as agreed
  • Proof of delivery with signature, identity check and photograph

The full chain, one price, one person answerable for it.

When the schedule will not do

Charter and relay

  • A second courier takes over where a visa or a duty limit stops the first
  • A private aircraft where the last airline departure has gone
  • Ground relay across a border when flying is the slower option
  • Priced case by case, in writing, before anything moves

For deadlines that a scheduled seat cannot reach.
