Four coastal gates in Norway, and a country that already flies everywhere

Norway is a country where flying is not a treat, it is the road. That is the reason four separate Norwegian airports appear in this network rather than one.

Self employed. Nothing here is compulsory.

What is being asked of you

A shipment exists that no express network will carry the way its owner needs it carried. Perhaps it must never leave human custody. Perhaps it has a temperature window measured in hours. Perhaps a hundred people are standing around a machine that will not run until it arrives.

01

The solution is to hand it to a passenger. The passenger takes it in the cabin, clears it at customs in person, and hands it to a named recipient who signs for it. Between collection and that signature the passenger is legally responsible for it.

02

The desk that needs it moved sits in Dubai and buys the seat itself. It is booked in your name, against your passport, before you go anywhere near an airport. There is no point at which your own money is involved.

Tell us what has to fly. We answer with a flight and a price.

Five short questions. A dispatcher replies with a named departure, the delivery hour and one fixed price, day and night.

  • One named courier from collection to signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival
  • Licensed UAE company, proper VAT invoices

Gardermoen to the Gulf, and the shape of the trip after that

Oslo to Dubai is 6h 34m nonstop. That is the principal Gulf lane out of Norway and it runs daily. The outbound date belongs to the client's deadline and cannot move.

01

The return can. Where the assignment allows and the schedule cooperates, the desk can issue the return leg for up to a week after the outbound. It is worth understanding why: a later seat is no more expensive than an earlier one, and if nothing needs you home tonight there is no reason to insist on it.

02

The result, when it happens, is a genuine gap. Days at the destination that are not work, not paid and not anybody's business but yours, funded by you, with the flight home already in the reservation.

03

It does not always happen. Some assignments are a handover and an evening departure, occasionally with something coming back. You see the outbound and the return on the written offer before you accept, so the shape of the trip is never a surprise.

Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for your consignment

A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.

Emirates

The night bank out of Terminal 3

Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For your consignment that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.

Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus cities
flydubai

The short sectors, several times a day

From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.

Frequency is the fallback
Etihad

Abu Dhabi as the second runway

Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for your consignment is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.

US preclearance at AUH

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at your consignment first, at a fare the quote can carry.

Every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

Norwegian origins in the route data

Norway contributes four origins to the route data and three of them sit on the west coast. That is not a coincidence. It is where the energy industry is, and where the parts have to go.

Route counts and departure averages are read from the scheduled route statistics the site keeps in obc-network.json, built 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics. Flight times are great circle distance on the curve the rest of this site uses, so treat them as sector length rather than as a timetable.

Oslo, and the coast behind it

Oslo shows 146 nonstop destinations on around 378 departures a day. Bangkok is 10h 46m, Seoul 9h 35m, New York 7h 30m. Bergen carries 61 destinations, Trondheim 31 and Stavanger 28.

01

The Stavanger board is the interesting one for this trade. It reaches Aberdeen in 1h 03m, which is the shortest hop between two of the busiest offshore energy towns in Europe, and that lane exists for exactly the kind of reason that generates courier work: certified parts, inspection documents and equipment that a rig is waiting on.

02

Elsewhere the traffic is what a resource and maritime economy produces. Subsea and drilling components, marine and shipping originals, aquaculture and laboratory samples, and the pharmaceutical and clinical flow out of the capital region.

On the passport, and on being outside the union

A Norwegian passport is among the strongest in this network, and although Norway is not in the European Union it is inside the Schengen area, so European travel involves no border formality in practice.

None of the checking falls to you. Entry conditions are verified against your nationality and the whole routing, transit included, before an offer goes out, and if a lane needs a permission it is handled as part of the assignment.

What the desk is buying is the ability to have somebody at Gardermoen tonight without a form standing in the way.

The case against

You would be self employed, working as a freelancer with no contract of employment behind you. No rota, no minimum, no entitlement, and no penalty for turning something down.

01

Nobody can therefore promise you volume. It follows what clients ship, which is not predictable, and a figure from anyone would be fabricated.

02

The work is also demanding. You hold the consignment throughout, you answer for it personally at the border, and the deadline is the whole point of hiring a human. Where the return has been placed later, those spare days are unpaid and come out of your own pocket. What the assignment needs is what the assignment pays for: the two flights, the ground transfers and a hotel where the routing forces one.

Questions from Norway

01Is the energy work real or is it an example?

Stavanger and Aberdeen are both origins in the route data and the sector between them is short and frequent. Whether you personally get offered that work depends on demand.

02Does being outside the European Union complicate things?

Not materially. Norway is in the Schengen area and a Norwegian passport travels widely, which is what this depends on.

03How long is a typical assignment away from home?

A European lane can be a single working day. A Gulf or Asia lane is at minimum a day out, a handover and a day back, and longer where the return has been placed later.

04Do I need experience in logistics?

No. What is needed is a valid passport, punctuality and the ability to follow written instructions exactly. The specifics are taught before you fly.

If you want to be considered

The form wants two things: the passports you hold, and a rough idea of when you could be at an airport. It is short on purpose.

Everything after it happens one assignment at a time.

Applying obliges you to nothing. Each offer names the routing and both dates before you accept or decline it.

Three ways the desk can move your consignment

Same courier, same cabin, different amount of ground work. The desk recommends one of these in the quote and prices the other two if you ask.

The lean one

Airport to airport

  • A courier meets your driver airside at the departure airport
  • The consignment stays in the cabin for the whole flight
  • Your consignee, or their broker, collects at the arrival airport
  • Cleared in person, questions answered at the counter

Best when both ends have people who can reach an airport.

What most clients book

Door to door

  • Collection at your address, sealed and photographed
  • One named courier from that door to the signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival, duties handled as agreed
  • Proof of delivery with signature, identity check and photograph

The full chain, one price, one person answerable for it.

When the schedule will not do

Charter and relay

  • A second courier takes over where a visa or a duty limit stops the first
  • A private aircraft where the last airline departure has gone
  • Ground relay across a border when flying is the slower option
  • Priced case by case, in writing, before anything moves

For deadlines that a scheduled seat cannot reach.
