Earn as an on board courier from the Netherlands

You fly with a sealed, documented consignment in the cabin and hand it over in person. We book and pay the ticket, cover transfers and a hotel where an overnight is needed, and pay a fee for every completed assignment. You publish the days you are available and decline anything that does not suit you.

You never pay for a ticket and nothing is deducted from your fee. No registration fee, no commission. One thing is charged: the Academy, AED 199 once, AED 208.95 with VAT, returned on top of the fee for your first completed assignment and waived if you have carried on board before.

One person beats a parcel network to Earn as an from the Netherlands

The freight chain is not slow because aircraft are slow, it is slow because a consignment waits at every handover. A courier removes the queues, not the kilometres.

Why we recruit in the Netherlands specifically

A courier network is a map of where its people already are. When a client in Dubai needs something collected in Rotterdam this afternoon, the only question that matters is whether we have a vetted, trained, document-ready courier in or near Rotterdam right now. If the answer is no, the consignment waits for someone to be flown in, and the speed advantage we sell disappears.

01

Netherlands matters enormously for that map. An estimated 6,000 or more Dutchs live in the United Arab Emirates and travel this corridor constantly, and the citys that generate urgent consignments, the finance, technology, engineering, legal and document centres, are spread across the country rather than concentrated in one place.

02

So we are not looking for a handful of couriers in one city. We want a network across 14 cities, so that whichever one the consignment starts in, somebody vetted is already there. If you travel anyway, for work, for family, between the Gulf and home, that is the profile that fits best of all.

Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for Earn as an from the Netherlands

A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.

Emirates

The night bank out of Terminal 3

Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For Earn as an from the Netherlands that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.

Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus cities
flydubai

The short sectors, several times a day

From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.

Frequency is the fallback
Etihad

Abu Dhabi as the second runway

Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for Earn as an from the Netherlands is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.

US preclearance at AUH

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at Earn as an from the Netherlands first, at a fare the quote can carry.

Earn as an from the Netherlands: every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

What you get, honestly

The flight is paid

Booked and paid by us in your own name, matching your passport exactly. Transfers included, and a hotel where an overnight is unavoidable.

A fee per assignment

Stated in the offer before you accept it, paid by bank transfer after the assignment closes. No bidding, no haggling, no deductions that were not in the offer.

You choose the days

Publish your availability, receive offers that fit, accept or decline freely. There is no penalty for saying no and no obligation to fly.

Training first

Customs, documentation, conduct and security in our Academy, released once your documents are verified. You never fly an assignment untrained.

You are covered

You are insured on assignment and you are never asked to carry anything undeclared, unlawful or unclear. If something does not look right, you refuse it and we back you.

The honest part

This is work with a deadline, not a free holiday. Some assignments turn around the same day and you see an airport, not a city. Extensions are your own time and cost.

What you are actually being paid for

Understanding this is half the job, clients pay for the column on the left.

On board courier vs air cargo

Every assignment you fly exists because a client decided the column on the left was worth paying for.

On board courier

A person in a seat

  • Leaves on the next available flight, often within hours of your call, 24/7.
  • One named courier holds the consignment from collection to signature.
  • Travels in the aircraft cabin wherever the airline, cargo classification and security rules permit it; the transport configuration is confirmed before booking.
  • No warehouse, no consolidation window, no overnight sort.
  • Customs cleared in person, questions answered at the counter, immediately.
  • Same-day delivery is realistic on most sectors out of the UAE.
  • Built for high-value, fragile, temperature-critical goods and originals.
  • Proof of delivery with signature, ID check and a photograph within minutes.
  • A human being you can call at any point of the journey.

Air cargo & express freight

A parcel in a system

  • Waits for the next consolidation and space allocation, not for you.
  • Passes through many hands: hub, build-up, ramp, break-down, delivery agent.
  • Rides in the hold, frequently sitting in a warehouse overnight.
  • Each handover is a queue, and each queue is where hours disappear.
  • Cleared in a batch by a broker; one query can idle the shipment for a day.
  • Next day at best on most lanes, two to three days if it is held.
  • Chain of custody is a scan history, not a person with the box.
  • Signed for by whoever happens to be at the door.
  • Right answer for heavy, bulky or non-urgent freight, and we will say so.

To be straight about it: air cargo is not a bad service, it is a different one. It moves weight cheaply and it does that extremely well. A hand-carry buys back hours, and it is worth paying for exactly when an hour of delay costs more than a seat on a plane, which is the case far more often than most shippers assume, and far less often than most courier companies claim.

How to spot a courier scam

This industry attracts fraud, and people in the Netherlands are targeted specifically. Learn the pattern once and you are safe from all of it:

  • Anyone who asks you for money is a fraud. Registration fees, training fees, “customs clearance” fees, a ticket you pay for and get reimbursed later, all of it. A real courier company pays you.
  • Anyone who asks you to accept a package from a stranger is a fraud. Every legitimate assignment names the party you collect from and the party you deliver to, in writing, before you travel.
  • Anyone who tells you not to declare something is a fraud, and is trying to make you the person who gets arrested.
  • Anyone who will not tell you what is in the box is a fraud. You are entitled to know what you are carrying, and to refuse it.
  • Romance, chat-app and social-media “courier” offers are fraud without exception. No real logistics company recruits that way.

We publish this because a courier who understands the pattern is safer, and because the companies that do not publish it are relying on you not knowing.

What an assignment looks like from the courier's side

Most people booking a courier for the first time want to know what the hours look like. This is the real sequence for a Netherlands assignment, the parts we control, the parts the airline controls, and the part where customs decides how the day goes.

Minute 0 to 15

You tell us what it is

The first conversation is short and specific: contents, declared value, collection address, delivery address in Netherlands, and the real deadline rather than the comfortable one. If there are batteries, powders, liquids, biological material or anything regulated in the box, that is the moment to say so, not at the check-in desk.

Minute 15 to 45

We screen it and price it

Before a price exists we screen the parties, the commodity and the route against sanctions and export-control lists, and we check whether Netherlands requires a permit or a licensed consignee for that category. This is also where we occasionally say no, and a provider who never says no has simply moved the risk onto you.

Hour 1 to 3

A named courier is assigned and booked

The matching runs against couriers who are available now, whose passport and visas suit the route to Netherlands, and whose delivery history fits the value of the consignment. The ticket is then bought in the courier's own name, matching their passport exactly, a booking in anything but the traveller's legal name is refused at the gate.

Hour 2 to 4

Collection, sealing and documentation

Collection is a documented handover, not a pickup. Identity checked, contents verified against the invoice, seal applied and numbered, photographs taken, and the file opened. From that point one named person holds the consignment until someone in Netherlands signs for it.

In flight

The consignment stays in the cabin

The flight is the boring part, and that is the point. No hold, no handling agent, no transfer between systems, one person, one box, one continuous chain of custody all the way to the departure airport in Netherlands.

On arrival

Customs, then a signature

At the departure airport in Netherlands the goods are declared properly, a commercial consignment goes through the red channel, and a courier who chooses the green channel to save twenty minutes has committed an offence rather than a shortcut. Delivery follows immediately, against a signed and timestamped receipt.

Who books a courier to Netherlands

Hand-carry demand is not evenly spread, it clusters in industries where an hour of delay costs more than the flight. These are the ones that book Netherlands most often, and what they send.

Aviation and AOG

A grounded aircraft costs more per hour than the entire logistics budget for the month. Rotables, avionics, seals and the certification paperwork that must travel with them are the most time-sensitive freight that exists, and industries like these in Netherlands generate them continuously.

Automotive and mobility

Prototypes under confidentiality, homologation samples, tooling inserts and line-critical components moving to build schedules that were fixed months ago.

Media, events and production

Rushes, masters, broadcast hardware and event material with a transmission or a stage time attached, deadlines that do not move because logistics had a difficult day.

Energy, marine and mining

Downhole and subsea electronics, marine spares for a vessel with a sailing window, assay samples with a chain-of-custody requirement, and project equipment on a contractual schedule.

Machine spares and line-down parts

A controller, a bearing, a die or a sensor whose absence has stopped a shift. The part is usually small and cheap; the stoppage behind it is neither.

Fashion and product samples

Lab dips, lookbooks, couture pieces and pre-production units that have to be in a buyer's hands before the meeting. After the meeting they are worth exactly nothing.

What can go wrong on a Netherlands assignment, and what we do about it

Every operator has these problems. The difference is whether the answer was decided in advance or invented at the counter. This is our answer to each of them, written down before you need it.

Something needs to continue past Netherlands

A second sector, a border crossing or a domestic flight beyond the departure airport in Netherlands is planned as part of the assignment, not handed to a third party on arrival. The chain of custody either holds to the signature or it is not a chain of custody.

The goods turn out to be regulated

Found before departure, this is a repack or a permit. Found at security, it is a lost flight and sometimes a confiscation. It is the reason we ask uncomfortable questions about contents at the very beginning instead of taking a booking politely.

The connection is missed

This is why we build routings above the minimum connection time rather than at it. Where a connection is genuinely tight, the courier holds the consignment airside and takes the next available service rather than clearing into a country they were only passing through.

Weather or airspace closes the route

Force majeure does not disappear because a shipment is urgent. What we do is re-plan around it, a different hub, a different carrier, occasionally a different UAE airport, and tell you what the new arrival time is rather than letting you discover it.

The declared value is challenged

It happens, and it is survivable when the invoice is realistic and consistent with the goods. It is not survivable when someone wrote a convenient number. We check this before departure precisely because there is no way to fix it afterwards.

The flight is cancelled

Not a crisis, a routine. Before the courier leaves for the airport we already know the next two departures that could carry the consignment to Netherlands, on any carrier, from any of the seven UAE airports. Rebooking is a phone call, not a rescue operation.

More questions about the work itself

The questions clients actually ask before their first assignment, answered without marketing language.

01How is delivery proven?

Signature, printed name and an identification reference, with a timestamp, plus photographs where you have asked for them. It is produced by the courier at the moment of handover in Netherlands, not generated by a depot three hours later.

02Can I speak to a person during the journey?

Yes, and that is the point of the service. Our operations desk answers by email at bookings [at] onboardcourier [dot] ae for the whole assignment, and we contact you at collection, at departure, on arrival and at delivery without waiting to be asked.

03Does the consignment ever go into the hold?

No. That is the definition of the service rather than a policy we could relax. It travels in the cabin, in the courier's custody, for every sector of the journey to Netherlands. If something genuinely cannot travel in a cabin, we will tell you that and discuss freight or a charter instead of pretending.

04What cannot travel with a courier?

Undeclared dangerous goods, controlled substances, weapons and weapon parts, counterfeits, unlicensed dual-use items, live animals, and anything whose parties or end use fail sanctions screening. Some regulated categories can travel with the right permit and packing; we tell you which case yours is before you pay.

05Can a courier carry more than one consignment?

Only where both belong to the same client and the customs position is clean. Mixing two clients' goods under one declaration into Netherlands creates a liability neither of them agreed to, so we do not do it.

06Is the consignment insured?

All-risk cover on the declared value is arranged on request and confirmed in writing before collection. We do not rely on airline liability, because under the Montreal Convention that liability is a small fraction of what most courier consignments are worth.

07Are you an airline?

No. OnBoard Courier is a courier placement and brokerage business based in Dubai. We vet, train and insure couriers, screen consignments and buy ordinary passenger seats on scheduled flights. We operate no aircraft, hold no alliance membership and have no exclusive carrier contract, which is exactly what lets us put a courier on whichever airline departs next for Netherlands.

08What happens if the flight is cancelled?

We rebook. Before departure we already know the next alternatives to Netherlands across the carriers we can lawfully use, so a cancellation costs hours rather than a day. You are told the new arrival time as soon as we have it, not after you ask.

Questions from Dutch couriers

01What does an on board courier actually earn?

A fee per completed assignment, stated in the offer before you accept it. It varies with the length of the sector, the urgency and the responsibility the consignment carries, a short Gulf sector and a long-haul assignment with high-value goods are not the same job and are not paid the same. On top of the fee we book and pay the flight, the airport transfers and a hotel where an overnight is needed. Anyone quoting you a single guaranteed monthly number for this work is not describing it honestly.

02Do I pay for anything?

No. You never pay us, and you never pay for a ticket. If any company asks you for a registration fee, a training fee or the cost of a flight you will be reimbursed for later, stop and walk away, that is the shape of every courier scam there is.

03Do I need a visa?

It depends on your passport, the destination and what other visas or residence permits you already hold, and the rules change. We check the current position for every courier and every routing individually before assigning, and we never ask a courier to travel on a document that does not cover the trip. Practically: couriers who already hold a UAE residence visa, or visas for the United States, the United Kingdom or the Schengen area, see more assignments, because more routings are open to them.

04What are the requirements?

A passport valid for at least six months with clear pages, a clean criminal record, a bank account and a credit card in your own name, the ability to travel at short notice, working English, and a minimum age of 21. No logistics experience is needed, training happens in our Academy once your documents are verified.

05Is this a full-time job?

For most couriers, no. You publish the days you are available, we offer assignments that fit, and you accept or decline freely with no penalty for saying no. Some couriers fly twice a month around another job; a few fly constantly. Both are normal.

06What do I actually do on an assignment?

Collect a sealed consignment from a named person, check it against the documents, keep it in the cabin for the entire journey, declare it correctly at customs, and hand it over against signature and ID. You are not selling anything, you are not carrying anything you have not seen documented, and you never accept a package from anyone other than the party named in your assignment.

07I live in the Netherlands. Does that help or hurt?

It helps enormously, and that is the whole reason this desk exists. A courier network is only fast if somebody vetted is already near the shipper. Assignments starting in the Netherlands go first to couriers who are already in the Netherlands, being in Amsterdam, Eindhoven or The Hague when the call comes is worth more than any amount of availability somewhere else.

08How do I get paid?

By bank transfer after the assignment closes, at the fee that was stated in the offer before you accepted it. No bidding, no haggling and no deductions that were not in the offer.

09Can I extend the trip and stay a few days?

Sometimes. Where the schedule and our operations allow it, you can extend privately at your own cost. It is a bonus, never the plan, the assignment is work with a deadline and some of them turn around the same day.

10What would disqualify me?

Filming or photographing a consignment, its documents or a client; accepting anything from a party not named in the assignment; travelling on documents that do not cover the trip; and any attempt to move something undeclared. Confidentiality and honest declaration are the two rules that end a courier relationship immediately.
