E44 Al Khail Road runs along the estate and Umm Suqeim Street crosses it, so the driving part is easy: twenty-five to forty minutes to DXB depending on the hour, with the higher figure through the evening peak and on a mall weekend when the car parks empty into the same junctions. The friction is at the gates. Each villa sub-community operates its own barrier and expects the resident to have named the visitor beforehand; a courier who arrives unannounced waits outside while calls are made, which can cost fifteen minutes at the worst moment. Apartment lobbies are simpler but stricter, most will not take custody of anything for a resident, which is the correct instinct for a valuable item, so the sender comes down.
