On board courier Al Quoz, collected by hand, flown in the cabin.

Al Quoz makes the things the rest of Dubai ships. Joinery, print, fabrication, film kit, artwork, textiles, and all of it lives behind a roller shutter on a street with no obvious numbering. Send us the unit and a phone number and a courier is at the door, then in the cabin with your consignment, delivering against signature wherever it has to land.

Why urgent freight starts in Al Quoz

Al Quoz is the emirate's workshop. Between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road sit joinery and shopfitting factories, commercial printers, event and exhibition fabricators, stone and marble yards, textile and garment units, car workshops and parts traders, food production units, and the film and photography rental houses that supply half the region's shoots. Alserkal Avenue added galleries, studios and creative offices to the same industrial grid. The deadlines are production deadlines, which are unforgiving in a particular way: a fabricated element for a stand that opens abroad on a fixed morning, a colour proof that a client must approve before a press run, a lens or a camera body for a shoot already in progress in another country, an artwork due at a fair with a hanging schedule. None of these tolerate a consolidation window, and most are awkward shapes that a network prices badly and handles worse. A courier with a cabin seat solves both problems at once.

Collection in Al Quoz, when?A courier is typically at the door 45 to 75 minutes after the booking is confirmed.

Where we collect in Al Quoz

There is no security fence anywhere in Al Quoz and no gate pass to arrange, the challenge is simply finding the unit. Street numbering is inconsistent, several rows look identical, and the useful address is a unit number plus a landmark plus a mobile that answers. Give us those and the courier arrives once, not three times.

Alserkal AvenueGallery and studio collections at the unit door inside the compound; vehicle access through the main entrance is fine outside event evenings, when the courier is better parked outside and walking in.
The CourtyardA small enclosed complex of studios and workshops, the courier parks in the central yard and collects at the specific unit rather than at a shared reception.
Al Quoz Industrial Area 1Dense warehouse rows behind Sheikh Zayed Road; a unit number without a street or a nearby landmark will cost a lap of the block, so add both.
Al Quoz Industrial Area 2Larger plots and joinery yards with their own gates; collections happen at the shutter or the site office, and a foreman's number is more use than a company switchboard.
Al Quoz Industrial Area 3Mixed workshops and accommodation blocks; approach roads narrow considerably and heavy vehicles block them at shift change, so timing matters more than distance.
Al Quoz Industrial Area 4Closer to Al Khail Road with easier lorry access; useful when a consignment is large enough that the handover needs a forklift on the shipper's side.
Times Square CenterA signed, easy-to-find meeting point on Sheikh Zayed Road with proper parking, the standard fallback when a workshop address cannot be pinned down quickly.
Oasis CentreThe same role on the other side of the district; a reliable rendezvous with covered parking and no access control.
Dubai Garden Centre on Sheikh Zayed RoadA recognisable landmark for directions and a workable handover point for anyone coming off the highway rather than out of a unit.
Al Quoz Pond ParkA neutral, unfenced meeting point away from the industrial traffic, convenient for evening handovers.
The Umm Suqeim Street crossingThe main east-west artery through the district; it is the reference point most units describe themselves against and the first road to slow in the afternoon.
The printing and packaging cluster off Al Manara StreetNight-shift friendly, many of these units run late, which makes an after-hours collection here easier than a daytime one.
The film and photographic rental houses in Al Quoz 1Kit collections need the case dimensions in advance, since a cabin seat sets a hard limit on what can travel and we would rather tell you before the courier arrives.

From Al Quoz to the runway: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad

A collection here is timed backwards from a departure board. Three of them matter.

EmiratesDXB 20-30 min · DWC 30-40 min

Terminal 3, the night bank

Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For Al Quoz that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.

flydubaiDXB Terminal 2

Short sectors, several a day

From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.

EtihadAUH, about 90 min by road

Abu Dhabi as the second runway

Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for Al Quoz is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier on the aircraft first, at a fare the quote can carry.

Al Quoz: every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

What typically moves out of Al Quoz

Fabricated stand elements and shopfitting parts for an exhibition build abroad
Colour proofs, dielines and press samples awaiting a client's sign-off
Camera bodies, lenses and audio kit for a shoot already under way overseas
Artwork, editioned prints and framed pieces going to a fair or a gallery
Textile, leather and fabric swatches for a factory approval
Machine parts and tooling made to order for a customer's line in another country

The last mile, told properly

Al Quoz sits between two of the emirate's busiest roads, which is both the advantage and the problem. Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) is the quick way to the airport side and the slow way at half past eight in the morning and again from five in the afternoon; Al Khail Road (E44) is usually the better bet towards Dubai International, at twenty to thirty minutes, and towards Al Maktoum International, at thirty to forty. Inside the district the constraints are different. The internal roads are narrow, lorries reverse into them without warning, and parking near a shutter can mean waiting for a delivery vehicle to clear. Workshop shifts turn over early in the morning and again in the evening, and those two windows put the most heavy traffic on the smallest streets. A collection at eleven in the morning or after nine at night moves far more cleanly than one at five. Because many units run late, an after-hours pickup here is often the fastest option of all.

Book a courier out of Al Quoz

A production deadline does not care how a network schedules its sorting. A seat does what a parcel cannot: your piece goes into the cabin with a named courier and comes out the other side into a signature, with no consolidation and no depot in between. Tell us the case dimensions, the weight, where it has to be and by when, the quote is with you inside fifteen minutes and the desk answers at midnight as readily as at midday, which suits a district that runs night shifts. Export and import formalities are handled at both ends under your documentation, and awkward or fragile items are discussed before booking, not at the airport.

Questions about collections in Al Quoz

01Our unit is hard to find. What should we send you?

The unit number, the Al Quoz area number, the nearest main street or a recognisable landmark, and a mobile that will be answered while the courier is en route. A dropped location pin is better than all of it. With those, the courier arrives once; with a company name alone, expect a slow circuit of identical warehouse rows.

02Can you collect after the workshop closes?

Yes, and it is frequently the quickest window. Many Al Quoz units run evening and night shifts, and the roads around them are clear after nine. We need somebody physically present at the shutter at the agreed time, an unattended unit cannot be collected from, however late the courier is willing to work.

03How large a piece can actually travel in the cabin?

Less than most people hope. Cabin dimensions and weight limits are set by the airline and the aircraft, not by us, and an oversized case may need its own seat or a different approach. Send the packed dimensions and weight at enquiry stage and we will tell you what fits, what needs a second courier and what does not work at all.

Estimate your price, live, before you talk to anyone

An indicative calculation on the OBC-One pattern: airline seat, courier duty, hotel where the routing needs one, transfers and handling. Pick any of the airports we serve, adjust the settings, the breakdown updates as you go. Nothing here is a binding price; the airline fare on the day decides the final number.

Three ways the desk can move Al Quoz

Same courier, same cabin, different amount of ground work. The desk recommends one of these in the quote and prices the other two if you ask.

The lean one

Airport to airport

  • A courier meets your driver airside at the departure airport
  • The consignment stays in the cabin for the whole flight
  • Your consignee, or their broker, collects at the arrival airport
  • Cleared in person, questions answered at the counter

Best when both ends have people who can reach an airport.

What most clients book

Door to door

  • Collection at your address, sealed and photographed
  • One named courier from that door to the signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival, duties handled as agreed
  • Proof of delivery with signature, identity check and photograph

The full chain, one price, one person answerable for it.

Charter and relay

  • A second courier takes over where a visa or a duty limit stops the first
  • A private aircraft where the last airline departure has gone
  • Ground relay across a border when flying is the slower option
  • Priced case by case, in writing, before anything moves

For deadlines that a scheduled seat cannot reach.
