d3 is one of the better-placed districts for Dubai International, fifteen to twenty minutes by Ras Al Khor Road (E44) and the airport approach, a little more if the evening peak has settled in over the Business Bay side. Al Maktoum International is forty to fifty minutes on Al Khail Road (E44) and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). Within the district the friction is small but real. The buildings are numbered rather than named and the numbers are not legible from the approach, so a courier without a building number can lose ten minutes on a single loop. The car parks are at the perimeter, which means every collection ends with a short walk. During Dubai Design Week and the larger fairs the internal roads are partly closed to traffic, the plaza fills with build crews, and the sensible plan is a handover at the car park lobby or on the promenade rather than at a studio door. Studios often work late in the run-up to a show, and an evening collection is quicker than a lunchtime one.
