So a seat is bought and a person sits in it with the item as cabin baggage. They clear it at customs themselves and a named recipient signs for it. Between those two moments it is legally theirs to protect.
The most useful airport for a Slovak courier might be in another country
Bratislava has its own board and Vienna is an hour away by road. Saying that out loud is the single most useful thing this page can do for you.
Freelance, per assignment, and never automatic
The work itself
Certain consignments cannot be shipped in the normal sense. They have to be accompanied by a person who is answerable for them. An original with legal standing. A sample that expires. A certified part that has to keep its chain of custody intact from one building to another building in a different country.
The desk that needs it moved is in Dubai and it pays for the flight. Your name, your passport, booked before you set out, with none of your own money involved.
Tell us what has to fly. We answer with a flight and a price.
Five short questions. A dispatcher replies with a named departure, the delivery hour and one fixed price, day and night.
- One named courier from collection to signature
- Customs cleared in person on arrival
- Licensed UAE company, proper VAT invoices
Thirty minutes to Vienna, and the date that follows
Bratislava to Vienna is 0h 30m in the air and roughly an hour by road, which in this trade makes the two airports something close to a single catchment. There is no Gulf nonstop from Bratislava, so most assignments will start either with a short sector or with a drive.
That is worth knowing rather than hiding. It also has an upshot: a routing with a feeder leg or a road transfer in it has more slack than a simple out and back, and when an assignment does not need you home immediately the desk can put the return leg up to a week after the outbound.
If that is how yours is built, the days in between belong to you. Nobody pays you for them and nobody tells you what to do with them. You cover your own costs and the journey home is already booked.
If it is not, the offer says so, because the outbound and the return are both on it before you accept. Neither shape is unusual and neither is a disappointment.
Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for your consignment
A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.
The night bank out of Terminal 3
Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For your consignment that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.
Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus citiesThe short sectors, several times a day
From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.
Frequency is the fallbackAbu Dhabi as the second runway
Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for your consignment is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.
US preclearance at AUHThe desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at your consignment first, at a fare the quote can carry.
Every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.
Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.
The Slovak gateway in the route data
One Slovak airport appears as an origin in the network. Read the third column alongside the Austrian page, because for most people here the two are practical alternatives.
| Gate | Airport | Nonstop airports | Departures a day |
|---|---|---|---|
| BTS | Bratislava M. R. Štefánik | 88 | 63 |
Route counts and departure averages are read from the scheduled route statistics the site keeps in obc-network.json, built 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics. Flight times are great circle distance on the curve the rest of this site uses, so treat them as sector length rather than as a timetable.
A modest board, in a very well connected place
Bratislava shows 88 nonstop destinations on around 63 departures a day. Antalya is 2h 26m, Barcelona 2h 08m, Larnaca 2h 50m, and Kosice at the other end of the country is 0h 49m. It is a leisure and point to point board rather than a hub board.
The hub is next door. Vienna's two hundred nonstop destinations are described on the Austria page and they are, for a courier in western Slovakia, about as accessible as they are for somebody living in Vienna's outer districts.
The consignments follow a manufacturing economy that is unusually concentrated: automotive components above all, since this country builds cars at a remarkable rate per head, plus machinery, electronics, tooling and the certified parts that keep assembly lines running.
Passport and border, briefly
A Slovak passport crosses most of this network without advance permission, and inside the European Union and the Schengen area there is nothing at all to arrange, including the drive to Vienna.
Checking is the desk's job. Requirements are verified against your nationality and the exact routing before an offer is made, transit stops included, and any permission a lane needs is arranged with the assignment.
The border point is the practical one. Crossing into Austria to reach an aircraft is not an exception here, it is the normal way of doing things, and it should be on your application.
What is not good about this
You would be a freelancer. No employment, no roster, no minimum, and nothing at all lost by declining an assignment.
Nobody can therefore promise how often it would happen. It depends on client demand, which nobody predicts, and a number from anyone would be invented.
The work asks for precision. You are responsible for the consignment from start to finish, you present it at the border in person, and a routing with a road leg or a connection in it has more that can slip. Where a later return has been issued, those extra days are unpaid and self funded. Both flights, transfers and a hotel where the routing requires one are paid.

Questions from Slovakia
01Should I say I can use Vienna?
Yes, if you can. It is the single piece of information that most changes what a Slovak applicant can be offered.
02What about Kosice or the east of the country?
Kosice appears as a destination from Bratislava in the route data rather than as an origin in this section. If you live in the east, say what you can reach and how long it takes you.
03Is Budapest also an option?
For some Slovak cities it is the nearest large gate. Put it on the application if it applies to you.
04Do I need my own transport to the airport?
You need a reliable way of being there on time. How you get there is your own arrangement.
Apply once, and say what you can reach
The form asks which passports you hold and when you could travel.
Add the airports you would realistically drive to. From Slovakia that is the answer that matters most.
Applying commits you to nothing. Every assignment is offered separately with the routing and both dates in writing.
