United Arab Emirates · seven origin airports, and the desk is here

You already live where the aircraft are

Every other page in this section is about getting somebody to Dubai. This one is the other way round, and it is the simplest version of the whole arrangement.

Freelance work, per assignment, with no roster

The job, from the inside of the hub

A consignment needs to leave the Emirates today and arrive somewhere tomorrow morning, and it cannot go as freight. Perhaps it must not leave a named person's custody. Perhaps it has a temperature window. Perhaps a plant somewhere is stopped until it lands.

01

So it goes in the cabin with a passenger who is legally responsible for it from collection to signature, clears customs with it personally, and hands it to a named recipient at the other end.

02

You would be that passenger, and unlike almost everybody else reading this section you live in the same city as the desk that arranges it. The desk buys the ticket in your name against your passport, before you leave, and you never advance a fils.

Firm quote in 15 minutes

Tell us what has to fly. We answer with a flight and a price.

Five short questions. A dispatcher replies with a named departure, the delivery hour and one fixed price, day and night.

  • One named courier from collection to signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival
  • Licensed UAE company, proper VAT invoices

Outbound from Dubai, and a return that can sit later

From here the geography inverts. Frankfurt is 6h 13m, New York 13h 33m, Singapore 7h 25m, Tokyo 9h 57m, Sydney 14h 47m, Sao Paulo 15h 00m. You are not flying to the hub, you are flying from it.

01

The rest works exactly as it does everywhere else in this section. A deadline fixes the outbound. The return, where the assignment does not require you back at once and the schedule allows, can be issued for up to a week after the outbound.

02

Which from the Emirates means something slightly different from what it means elsewhere. It means several days in Frankfurt, or Milan, or Bangkok, in the middle of a working assignment, at your own expense, with the flight back to Dubai already paid for and issued.

03

It is not a promise and it is not part of the offer unless it is written into the offer. Both dates appear before you accept, and many consignments require a same day or next day return whatever the destination.

Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for You already live where the aircraft are

A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.

Emirates

The night bank out of Terminal 3

Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For You already live where the aircraft are that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.

Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus cities
flydubai

The short sectors, several times a day

From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.

Frequency is the fallback
Etihad

Abu Dhabi as the second runway

Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for You already live where the aircraft are is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.

US preclearance at AUH

The desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at You already live where the aircraft are first, at a fare the quote can carry.

You already live where the aircraft are: every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.

Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.

Emirati origins in the route data

All seven airports in this country that appear as origins in the network. The northern emirates fields are small, and they are included because a courier in Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah is a real person with a real drive.

Route counts and departure averages are read from the scheduled route statistics the site keeps in obc-network.json, built 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics. Flight times are great circle distance on the curve the rest of this site uses, so treat them as sector length rather than as a timetable.

The largest single board in the network

Dubai International shows 221 nonstop destinations on around 575 departures a day, which is the biggest single board anywhere in this route data. Abu Dhabi carries 122 destinations on 249 departures, Sharjah 81 on 176, and Al Maktoum 40, which sits 0h 30m from Dubai International.

01

For a courier that concentration is unusual. Almost everywhere else in this section, the question is how to reach an airport with range. Here the question is only which aircraft leaves first.

02

What moves out of the Emirates is what a re export and trading hub generates: aircraft parts on their way to a grounded aeroplane somewhere else, high value goods and jewellery, pharmaceutical and clinical material, oilfield components, and legal and trade originals for the region's shipping and commodity business.

Passports here are a longer conversation

This is the one country in this section where the courier population is mostly not made up of nationals of the country. Residents here hold passports from everywhere, and what a given passport can do varies enormously.

01

That is why the checking is done individually and before anything is offered. Your nationality, your residence status and the exact routing including any transit stop are all looked at when an assignment is being put together, and a lane that needs a permission has one arranged as part of the assignment.

02

Put every nationality you hold on your application, and your residence status too. Here more than anywhere else in this section, those details determine what you can realistically be sent to do.

The honest position

You would be a freelancer under a contract for services, not an employee, and your existing visa status is your own responsibility to keep in order. No roster, no minimum, and no penalty for declining an assignment.

01

Volume cannot be promised. It follows what clients ship and that is not forecastable, so any figure anybody quotes you is invented.

02

The work also has real obligations. You are responsible for the consignment from collection to signature, you present it at customs yourself, and the timings in the offer are the reason the assignment exists. Where a later return has been issued, the days in between are unpaid and you fund them. What the assignment needs it pays for: the outbound, the return, the transfers and any hotel the routing forces.

Questions from the UAE

01I am a resident, not a national. Can I still do this?

Residents are a large part of the courier population here. What matters is the passport you hold, your residence status, and where each of them lets you travel. Put all of it on the application.

02Does living in Dubai make me more likely to be used?

It makes you easier to reach and easier to brief, which counts for something. It does not create demand that is not there.

03Are the northern emirates airports really used?

They appear as origins in the route data with small boards. In practice most assignments will leave from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

04Would I need an NOC from my employer?

If you are employed here, your own contract and visa conditions govern what secondary work you may take. That is between you and your employer and it is worth checking before you apply.

You are the closest applicant we get

The application asks which passports you hold, your residence status, and roughly when you could travel.

From here the last of those is the one that changes most.

An application puts you under no obligation. Every assignment is offered in writing with the routing and both dates before you accept it.

Three ways the desk can move You already live where the aircraft are

Same courier, same cabin, different amount of ground work. The desk recommends one of these in the quote and prices the other two if you ask.

The lean one

Airport to airport

  • A courier meets your driver airside at the departure airport
  • The consignment stays in the cabin for the whole flight
  • Your consignee, or their broker, collects at the arrival airport
  • Cleared in person, questions answered at the counter

Best when both ends have people who can reach an airport.

What most clients book

Door to door

  • Collection at your address, sealed and photographed
  • One named courier from that door to the signature
  • Customs cleared in person on arrival, duties handled as agreed
  • Proof of delivery with signature, identity check and photograph

The full chain, one price, one person answerable for it.

When the schedule will not do

Charter and relay

  • A second courier takes over where a visa or a duty limit stops the first
  • A private aircraft where the last airline departure has gone
  • Ground relay across a border when flying is the slower option
  • Priced case by case, in writing, before anything moves

For deadlines that a scheduled seat cannot reach.
