Those three things are the entire market for on board couriers. The item goes in the cabin with a person who is answerable for it, and it is handed over against a signature.
The smallest board in this section belongs to Slovenia. Read on anyway
Ljubljana reaches forty four airports nonstop, which is the shortest list on any page here. It also sits within a couple of hours of Venice, Zagreb, Graz and Trieste, and that is the part that matters.
Freelance. Assignments are offered, never imposed.
What a courier is for
Networks are very good at moving parcels and very bad at three things: keeping an item in one identified person's hands, committing to a specific pair of hands at a specific hour, and putting a human in front of a customs officer to explain what something is.
The desk that needs the movement sits in Dubai and pays for the seat. Booked in your name against your passport, before you leave, with nothing coming out of your own account at any stage.
Tell us what has to fly. We answer with a flight and a price.
Five short questions. A dispatcher replies with a named departure, the delivery hour and one fixed price, day and night.
- One named courier from collection to signature
- Customs cleared in person on arrival
- Licensed UAE company, proper VAT invoices
A small home board, a big regional one, and a later return
Ljubljana to Dubai does appear in the route data at 5h 34m, though it is not a daily service on the figures. Frankfurt is 1h 11m, Zurich 1h 01m and Istanbul 1h 58m, which are the practical ways out on most days.
Because a Slovenian routing usually involves either a connection or a drive across a border, it has more parts, and more parts means more room in the booking. Where an assignment does not require you back at once, the desk can issue the return leg for up to a week after the outbound.
If that is how yours is built, the days in the middle are yours. Nobody pays you for them and nobody is interested in them. You cover your own costs, and the way home is already booked.
If it is not, the offer says so before you accept, because both dates are printed on it. Neither shape is unusual.
Three departure boards, one desk: Emirates, flydubai and Etihad for your consignment
A hand-carry is only as fast as the next departure. The desk watches three boards at once and books the one that lands first, then holds the one that leaves next.
The night bank out of Terminal 3
Between one and four in the morning Emirates pushes back a wave of widebodies from Terminal 3 that reach Europe before the first meeting and Asia by the afternoon. For your consignment that wave is the reason a courier confirmed at eight in the evening is still delivering the next day.
Widebody only, non-stop to 140 plus citiesThe short sectors, several times a day
From Terminal 2 flydubai runs the one to five hour sectors: the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Africa, the Balkans, the subcontinent. Where a widebody leaves once a day, flydubai often leaves three times, which turns a missed slot into a ninety minute delay rather than a lost day.
Frequency is the fallbackAbu Dhabi as the second runway
Ninety minutes down the E11, Etihad leaves from Zayed International with its own bank of departures and, for the United States, immigration cleared before boarding. When the Dubai departure for your consignment is gone, the desk looks at Abu Dhabi before it looks at tomorrow.
US preclearance at AUHThe desk holds no allegiance to a carrier. The booking goes to whichever board puts a courier at your consignment first, at a fare the quote can carry.
Every hour it waits is an hour it is not moving.
Five questions, one fixed price, a named flight. The desk answers within 15 minutes, day and night, and you decide.
The Slovenian gateway in the route data
Slovenia puts a single origin into the route data. Its board is the smallest on any page here, and the honest way to read this table is alongside the Austrian, Italian and Croatian ones.
| Gate | Airport | Nonstop airports | Departures a day |
|---|---|---|---|
| LJU | Ljubljana Jože Pučnik | 44 | 35 |
Route counts and departure averages are read from the scheduled route statistics the site keeps in obc-network.json, built 2026-09-07 from AeroDataBox scheduled route statistics. Flight times are great circle distance on the curve the rest of this site uses, so treat them as sector length rather than as a timetable.
Forty four destinations, and everything within two hours by road
Ljubljana shows 44 nonstop destinations on around 35 departures a day. There is no point dressing that up: it is a small board and the work from here will usually involve going somewhere else first.
That is much less of a problem than it sounds, because Slovenia is small and its neighbours are not. Venice, Trieste, Graz, Zagreb and Klagenfurt are all within a few hours by road, and two of those cities have boards described elsewhere in this section. Couriers here routinely think in terms of a region rather than a country.
The consignments follow a compact but real industrial base: pharmaceutical material, which Slovenia produces at scale, automotive and electrical components, machinery and tooling parts, and laboratory samples out of the research institutes.
The passport, and the neighbours
A Slovenian passport crosses most of this network without advance permission, and inside the European Union and the Schengen area there is nothing to organise, including driving to an Italian, Austrian or Croatian airport.
The desk does the verification against your nationality and the whole routing before an offer is issued, transit included. If a lane calls for a permission, the assignment carries it.
The cross border point is the operationally important one here, and it should go on your application in as much detail as you can give.
What you should know before applying
You would be a freelancer. No employment, no roster, no minimum, and no cost to saying no.
Nobody can promise volume, and from the smallest market in this section that statement should carry extra weight. What you are offered follows client demand and no honest number exists.
The work also asks for exactness. You hold the consignment from collection to signature, you present it at the border yourself, and a routing with a road leg or a connection has more places to fail. Days that a later return opens up are unpaid and come out of your own pocket. Both legs of the flying, the ground transfers and a hotel where the routing forces one are on the desk.

Questions from Slovenia
01Is it worth applying from a country this small?
It is worth applying if you can reach airports outside it easily, which most people here can. Say which ones on the form.
02Which foreign airport is most useful?
That depends where in the country you are. Venice, Graz, Zagreb and Trieste all come up, and the desk plans around what you actually say you can reach.
03Does the Dubai sector from Ljubljana run every day?
Not on the figures in the route data. It exists, and it is less frequent than the sectors from the larger gateways nearby.
04Would I be paid more for a longer trip?
What an assignment pays is agreed in writing before you accept it and it varies with the work involved. This page does not set that.
Apply, and be specific about your radius
You are asked for your passports and for the days you could get to an airport.
From Slovenia, the most valuable thing you can add is the list of airports you would drive to.
Applying places no obligation on you. Each assignment is a separate written offer showing the routing and both dates.
